Abstract: The results of the analysis of documentation on the repression practiced by thestate/company partnership in the repression of workers at the Port of Santos during the dictatorship that began in 1964 in Brazil demonstrate the nature and strategies of differentforms of abuse of legality and serious violations, even in the light of the legality imposedby that regime of exception. We sought to understand how political repression took placeand the criteria that guided the selection of the workers to be repressed. For example,were they mostly linked to parties or unions, or critical of the system? The documentationcan be found in the collections of the National Information Service, the Ministry of Labor,newspapers from the city of Santos, the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo, andthe National Archives. The documents used in this research are newspapers, testimonies,and official documents. We analyzed the discourse contained in each of the sources, usingas methodological parameters the identification of the recurrent concepts in the discursivestructure contained in the sources, taken as evidence of the dynamics of a given socialconcreteness, as well as the identification of the relative position they occupy in theongoing historical dynamics
